rebel against

the way things are.

Dr. Kavita

Kavita Desai Dakoji, Ph.D., LP Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Kavita is a self-proclaimed psychology superfan. She is passionate about bringing psychological science to you- for whatever you might need. She specializes in working with kids, teens, & adults who are stuck - and helps them get back to living. She integrates science-backed psychology interventions (CBT, ACT, mindfulness self compassion, biofeedback, clinical hypnosis) to help individuals overpower pain, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, anxiety, stress/freeze, perfectionism, social strain, etc. so they can do what is important and meaningful again.

Dr. Kavita worked in the Pain & Integrative Medicine Clinics at Children’s Minnesota (check out her creds) for a decade before launching Peace Out Pain. She founded Peace Out Pain after hearing too many individuals feel gaslit and dismissed by medical clinicians- and is going to rebel against the notion that “in your head” means fake, psychological, and weak. Because, ALL experiences (including pain) are real and in your head—literally! Everything is brain-based.

And, well, your brain happens to be in your head.

what makes peace out pain different?

We welcome and encourage honesty—skepticism and all. We do things differently and want you to learn how to as well. Learning how to voice your real thoughts helps us figure out how to move forward while having fun too.

Want to hear more? Here are conversations with real kids (kids being the term we are using for anyone without their own children), with slight embellishment for humor and memory lapse.

  • “It can’t be a real medical thing if there is not a medicine or surgery that can fix me.”

    Peace Out Pain Response:
“Sure, because all medical conditions are ‘fixable’- and poof – go away with surgeries and meds. Like diabetes, sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, those all get better.”

  • "I don’t believe in that mind-reading stuff.”

    Our Response:
“Good, neither do we. Guess that’s why we ask you to share what you are thinking.”

  • “I relax by watching Tik Tok. Why can’t I keep doing that?”

    Our Response:

“You can. And, maybe we can add a few things so that your nervous system can re-set more effectively.”

Getting past the skepticism is the first step.
